Darjiparar Marjinara by aaKorik-Pune

After succussful production of Karno Sandhya,aaKorik staged Darjiparar Marjinara in Pune on 18th Dec'09.The second show was performed in theatre festival of Delhi on 26th Dec'09.

 A Synopsis

This play brings in tandem the visuals of three nights picked at random from the lives of the prostitutes of Sonagachhi, the infamous red light area of Kolkata, notorious in all its glory of passion, betrayal, crime, hypocrisy. It lacks the comfort of a steady narrative, constitutes a lot of documentary information and passes a rather poetic statement on the inglorious lives of the whores, fraught with deceit, abject poverty and a fierce, restless fight against the crudest and the greatest indignity suffered by mankind. However, an alternative reading would reveal a suggestion of the essential warp and woof of power, the deadly hegemonic strain of the capitalist society, forever looming large.
